The animated GIFs marked the web 90s with a hot iron and they gradually disappeared from the internet before returning in full force with the advent of social networks. Even better, they have even become a full term means and they are probably not our friends the Community Managers who contradict me on that.
But now, all social networks are not housed in the same boat and if Google+ supports these images from a little over two years, Facebook has anticipated this May to open the valves and the red carpet.
Finally, it is not quite accurate and the story is actually a little more complicated since blue giant has accepted in its early years, before they slam the door in his face a little later.
Fortunately, there was an alternative that was to go through Giphy to convert GIF video before sharing it with our friends. It worked well, but it was not a panacea.
Now it will be much easier since you only have to paste the link to the animated GIF you want in the window of your publication to integrate with your message.
It's simple, it's quick and it's (almost) painless but know all the same that only profiles can do so currently. The function should however be extended to the pages in a more or less near future.
