Microsoft takes inspiration from AirDrop for the Windows 10 Near Share feature. It allows easy transfer of files to nearby machines using Bluetooth.
Like Apple, which already offers the AirDrop system, Microsoft should also offer a file sharing tool between devices. Today, the firm begins testing a feature called "Near Share" for Windows 10, in the latest build of the Insider program.
"Let's say you're meeting with your boss and you need to quickly send him the report you're watching on your screen? Or are you and a brother or sister on the couch with your laptops, and you want to send him a screenshot of your latest Minecraft creation? You can now wirelessly share files and URLs to nearby PCs using the new Near Share feature, "says Microsoft.
This new tool should be accessible on the notification center as well as via the Windows sharing feature. Like AirDrop, Near Share allows you to share files between two nearby Windows 10 computers via Bluetooth.
Even if sharing files via Bluetooth was already possible on Windows 10, this integrated tool from Microsoft should still facilitate the process. And it will probably be very popular among companies.
