Amazon Video Direct - to compete against YouTube and Dailymotion

And Amazon will even spend a million dollars a month to reward the creators of Amazon Video Direct.

As you may already know, Amazon offers a service called Premium Video, home movies and series that you can watch in streaming. And in recent weeks, it even offers a subscription similar to those of Netflix to access a catalog by paying only a monthly subscription.

Moreover, today, the e-commerce giant is launching a program called Amazon Video Direct, intended to compete with platforms like YouTube, DailyMotion, and even Facebook. The idea, in essence, is to enrich the catalog of Amazon Prime Video with the type of content found on these platforms.

Amazon Video Direct allows users to upload their videos so that they are accessible on the service Amazon Prime Video and derive revenue for example through the rental system platform or through advertisements. But in any case, Amazon shares revenue with the creator.

Currently, Amazon Prime Video is available in the United States, Germany, Austria, the UK and Japan, with tens of thousands of subscribers. The creators of videos can control which of these countries since their videos will be accessible.

One million dollars per month to reward creators

Jim Freeman, vice president of Amazon Video, said that the new program will allow suppliers videos of having their content included in a premium streaming service. Therefore, it should not be too difficult to convince. In the US, publishers such as Business Insider, Mashable or Conde Nast have already announced they will participate.

But to be even more attractive, Amazon has also decided to pay a million dollars a month to reward these creators. Each month, this amount will be distributed as bonuses to the creators of the most engaging content.
