Twitter muscles up its live video..As you may already know, Twitter has bought Periscope in 2015, while its service was not started. Since then, the application has not changed a lot, from 10 million users in just a few months. And today, Twitter decided to include in its Periscope news feed.
Indeed, live video will now be integrated into the tweets on the newsfeed. As explained by the microblogging platform in a ticket, live videos and replays the Periscope can be launched from the Twitter app. This is the second enhancement made by Twitter, in the way it handles media.
In practice this means that when an account share these videos, they no longer appear as links, but as an integrated player. And the user, instead of moving from one application to another, will remain on Twitter.
The functionality is about to be globally deployed. However, only users of Twitter in iOS are currently involved, although Twitter says it also intends to make this feature on Android and web versions of its microblogging platform.
As you see in these screenshots, the user will see the contents of a video below the tweet and clicking on the publication, it will even enlarge the video and see the comments and hearts sent by others users. However, in response, it will still open the video Periscope.
It seems that the idea is to allow more people, those who have not installed Persiscope on their mobile, to see these videos while encouraging these people to download the application. At the same time, if the videos Periscope are seen by more people, this will encourage the media and celebrities to publish more.
To date, Periscope has been used to issue 100 million videos. But Twitter does not indicate how many monthly active users application account.
This is certainly to Twitter to counter Facebook, which last year launched the Live feature that allows celebrities and a few companies to publish live video over their accounts. These videos are embedded on the Facebook News Feed.
