You may not know this, but like Periscope or Meerkat, the social network Facebook also allows to broadcast live video. Finally, if you ignore it, it's probably because this feature is for celebrities of the social network with access to the application Mention.
Mention was launched some time ago by Facebook on iOS to allow, in essence, to those who can use it to manage their presence on the social network. As explained Owen Williams, editor of the site The Next Web, who tested the app, it aggregates for example mentions of the user on the social network, as well as articles on it and items that he has written.
But the most interesting feature of this application is the ability to publish live video.
And also, it seems that mention is really reserved for "celebrities", because users who have a verified account on Facebook can now enjoy.
For relatively little used now, however, this feature has great potential. It allows for example to host sessions Q / A directly to Facebook instead of using a third party application. And when direct is finished, the video is stored in the format of a normal native video.
Moreover, unlike a video on Periscope that is shared on Facebook, video direct native will go into auto-play, not to mention the fact that fans can receive notifications when the verified account starts a session.
Originally, the audited accounts were created to "inform users of their authenticity". But now, they also allow for live video on the number of social networks, which makes it even more interesting status.
